The motherboard, which is the main circuit board that secures all of the hardware, is always the first item on a list of all the parts of a computer. Every PC, whether they are personal notebooks or specialized workstations, has one. Many slots on a sturdy motherboard allow you to install different computer components, like RAM and a graphics card.
Varied motherboards have varied form factors (generic specifications like overall size, number of ports, circuitry arrangement, etc.), and only certain motherboard types are compatible with specific computer cases/chassis, particularly for desktop customization.
Instead, specialized motherboards are used for laptops, and a large portion of their built-in hardware is already permanently soldered onto the circuits of such motherboards. This is made possible by the laptop's lighter construction and smaller chassis, which only allow for minor component upgrades like RAM and storage.
